About Carbon350

At Carbon350, we’re on a mission to turn surplus local biomass into something genuinely good for the planet: renewable local heat, healthier soils, and long-term, durable carbon removal.

Carbon350 is building a network of modular, locally rooted biochar production hubs across the South Downs and beyond. Each hub will turn surplus biomass and tree by-products into biochar for healthier soils, renewable heat energy, and durable carbon credits.

Our 2035 Impact Goals

0
Remove 100,000 tonnes CO₂ from the atmosphere annually
0
Improve soil health on 50,000 acres of UK farmland
0
Generate 120 GWh of local renewable energy, the same as heating 10,000+ households
0
Create 400 green jobs in rural communities

Local and global impact

Every Carbon350 hub will be local by design, sourcing locally, employing locally, and improving local soils. And the carbon it removes is a contribution to solving a global problem.

Local Green Jobs
Carbon350 is committed to creating skilled, meaningful, fairly-paid work in the communities where we operate. Climate action can be local and real – something you or your neighbour does for a living, not just numbers on a spreadsheet.

Nature on the Board
Dedicated board representation to ensure ecological wellbeing guides our strategy.

We believe business can be a force for regenerating our planet, not just extracting from it.

About Biochar

Biochar is produced through pyrolysis, essentially ‘baking’ wood without letting it catch fire. When you heat wood in the presence of oxygen, it burns, turns to ash and smoke, and releases its stored carbon into the air as carbon dioxide.

Pyrolysis changes that outcome by greatly limiting oxygen – a self-sustaining, low-emission process that converts woody material into stable carbon while also generating useful heat.

The pilot is small by design. We want to learn, adapt, and build responsively, before we grow.

Our Approach

We’ve designed Carbon350 to be circular, modular, and deeply local from the ground up.

Circular design approach
We turn surplus biomass and tree by-products into multiple valuable outputs: biochar for soils, renewable energy for local communities, and heat for nearby users. Nothing goes to waste; every stream is designed to replace a more carbon-intensive alternative.

Distributed, modular production system
Instead of one giant plant, we build smaller, modular hubs that can be deployed across the South Downs and beyond. This reduces transport distances, makes it easier to work with local biomass supply chains, and lets us scale incrementally as demand and partnerships grow.

Hyper-local focus
Each hub is rooted in its community: sourcing biomass locally, employing locally, and improving local soils. The carbon we remove is global in impact, but the jobs, energy, and soil benefits are felt right where we operate.

The Petersfield Project

The Petersfield Project is Carbon350’s first biochar project hub and the prototype for a wider network across the UK. It’s located on a working cattle farm on the outskirts of Petersfield, where a small-scale pilot system goes live in July 2026.

The hub turns surplus biomass from local tree surgeons into three valuable outputs:
Biochar for healthier soils, used in our Soil Oomph products and on the farm itself
Renewable heat energy for an onsite kiln drying service
Biochar Carbon Credits for durable carbon removal
On the farm, biochar will be integrated into the cattle bedding and the farmyard manure nutrient cycle, helping to improve soil health and close nutrient loops. Beyond the farm, we’re educating local gardeners and growers about the benefits of biochar in soils, sharing practical knowledge through workshops and demonstrations.

The Petersfield Project embodies the Carbon350 model: local biomass, local partners, and local benefits, all contributing to durable carbon removal and regenerative land use.

It’s the blueprint we’ll use to roll out additional hubs in other regions.

Why we’re called Carbon350

Our name reflects our mission: helping to restore atmospheric CO₂ levels to 350ppm by 2050, the safe level scientists say is needed to help prevent catastrophic climate change. With concentrations now over 420ppm, we’re focused on rapid, scalable carbon removal through biochar production, starting in Hampshire and the South Downs National Park.

Our values

Our Vision

A future where carbon removal is embedded in how business is done, helping regenerate nature, land, and communities.

Meet our team

Catherine Daley
Founder & CEO

Catherine founded Carbon350 to help turn local biomass into lasting benefits for soils, communities, and the climate. She loves wildflower meadows for the diversity of life they support and how they move in a gentle summer breeze. She brings manufacturing experience, facilitation skills, and regenerative ambition to the business.
Andrew Myles
Chief Marketing Officer

Andrew helps Carbon350 tell its story with clarity and purpose. Having led the creation of the Carbon350 brand and product identities, he oversees the company’s marketing and communications, ensuring a clear and consistent message. With sustainability embedded in his own businesses through carbon offsetting, tree planting and renewable energy initiatives, Andrew is passionate about helping organisations move towards a lower-carbon future.
Michael Seaborne
Chief People & Culture Officer

Michael brings more than 30 years of experience in people development, training, and facilitation, alongside his senior management role in learning and development at Toyota Financial Services. He especially loves wandering in the woods with his dogs, and would happily live in a cabin in the forest. He supports Carbon350 in building a culture where people and teams can thrive.
Peter Daley
Chief Operating Officer

Peter brings over 40 years of leadership experience in manufacturing and technology, providing strategic and operational support to Carbon350. His love of birds has taken him to some remarkable, remote natural places, and he brings that same perspective and care to building a business that is strong, practical, and people-centred.
Nature Guardian
Open role

We are creating space for a Nature Guardian to help ensure ecological wellbeing is represented in our decisions. This role is for someone who wants nature’s voice to be part of how Carbon350 grows, partners, and plans for the long term.

Careers

We’re building a team that combines technical expertise with a genuine commitment to regenerative business. While we don’t have any open roles at the moment, we’re always interested in connecting with people who want to help scale durable carbon removal and improve UK soils.

If you’d like to be notified about future opportunities or want to explore how you might contribute, get in touch or send us a note with a brief overview of your background and what excites you about Carbon350.
