How we built Carbon350 and our biochar system

Carbon350 began with a simple idea: waste biomass shouldn’t go to waste. We saw an opportunity to create a local, scalable, genuinely sustainable carbon removal solution and biochar was the perfect place to start. But setting up the operation involved more than just buying a machine; it required engineering, problem-solving, and plenty of trial and error.

We sourced a high-quality pyrolysis unit designed for clean, efficient conversion of biomass into biochar. Installing it meant building out the infrastructure around it, feedstock handling, heat recovery systems, safety controls, emissions monitoring, and space for drying and storage. Every component had to work in harmony.

Once operational, we spent months refining the process: balancing feedstock moisture, controlling temperatures, maximising yield, and ensuring consistent biochar quality. The heat generated now powers our kiln-drying operation, making the system circular and efficient.

What started as an idea is now a fully functioning carbon-removal hub supporting farmers, gardeners, businesses, and landowners. Carbon350 is proof that with the right technology and a commitment to sustainability, waste biomass can become a climate solution with real impact.
